The State government’s impending legislation to abolish the Crown Land Trusts will remove the capacity for communities to hold governments to account for misuse and misappropriation of of Crown land reserved for public recreation and ultimately facilitate its private sale to developers by local Councils!
It will sweep under the carpet the unlawful actions of Crown Land authority that have already occurred, and destroy protections to ensure this land remains in public hands as of right, as currently entrenched in existing legislation. The Baird government is operating with undue haste to effect these radical reforms. Write to State Legislative Council members seeking that they oppose the current Bill on Crown Land and entrench the protection of Public Trusts to allow accountability
